Day 1 : post-Gardoussel

Intended to hit the ground running by buying 'Summer with Monika' but fell at the first fence; no intention of paying £25 on Amazon! Thank goodness for Borders. I bought Collected Poems for £9.99, which includes Monika. Much better value. All I need now to start dipping, is a glass of red.

Regards to all,

Glen

Hi Glen! Hope you had a good journey home. Looking forward to some more of your writing - maybe Roger McGough inspired?

Thanks for the tip Glen, I looked in Waterstones in Chelsea today but didn't find any of the books I wanted (other than the BBC poetry book).

I was thinking maybe we could use this forum to post recommendations? I haven't read poetry for decades and would like to build up a library. Liewise, I sometimes need inspiration when it cmes to noves.

For clarification, that should have been: Likewise, I sometimes need inspiration when it cmes to novels.

Only now am I discovering how to use this site; apologies Barbara for my ignorance. Yes, I am working on something that is Roger McGough inspired but it is slow going.

Kerrie, a good idea. But building up a library might be difficult. I spent a day in Hay-on-Wye last week and found no books by modern poets. "They just fly off the shelves," I was told. I assume 'they' meant the books, not the poets. An interesting thought, nevertheless, seeing Leonard Cohen doing an aerial loop-the-loop.
